Mayweather – Ortiz – and how Joe Cortez is a terrible referee

It was legit.

But if I woke up in the morning with the win Floyd Mayweather, Jr., pulled off tonight, my friends would laugh at me, my mother would be ashamed, and my father would turn over in his grave.

You don’t do that.

You just don’t.

I’m not sure if it was a move out of desperation. I hope not. From all accounts, he was winning the fight. It doesn’t make sense.

Everyone is watching. And he pulls a complete bush league move. But, it wasn’t his fault.

It was Joe Cortez’s fault. I hate blaming something on a referee/umpire, but Cortez completely mishandled the situation. He should have never let them approach each other after the break without telling them that the fight was on. Instead, he was distracted by something on the side . He let them approach each other without saying anything.

I wonder what would have happened if Ortiz was the one to throw a punch.

Would it have counted? Hmm.

But, hey, it keeps the Manny Pacquiao fight alive, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Mayweather chooses to fight Amir Khan first… you, know, because big fights take a long time to build.
